Privacy Policy

Gatekeep is a game for iPhone made by Keenan Kaufman (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the game and this website handle, and what choices you have.
What the game keeps on your iPhone
Your progress is saved in a file on your iPhone: the levels you’ve cleared and their stars, your coins and gems, upgrades, unlocked turrets and skins, your sound and haptics settings, and a record of purchases so none is applied twice. It never leaves your device and we never see it. There are no accounts, and the game doesn’t ask for your name, email or contacts.
Deleting the game deletes this file. You can also clear your progress at any time in Settings → Reset progress. Like any app’s data, the file is included in your iPhone’s own backups.
Ads
Gatekeep shows ads from Google AdMob: short videos you can choose to watch for a reward, such as a revive, and occasional ads between levels. To show and measure ads, Google’s software in the game collects information such as:
- your IP address, which gives an approximate location
- device and app information, such as model, iOS version and language
- which ads were shown and whether they were tapped
- your iPhone’s advertising identifier, only if you allow tracking
- crash and performance data from the ad software
Google uses this information as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. We don’t receive this information ourselves.
Your choices about ads
- Consent. Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and some US states, the game shows Google’s consent form before any ad loads. You can change your answer later in the game’s Settings → Privacy choices.
- Tracking. iOS asks whether Gatekeep may track you across other companies’ apps and websites. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, the advertising identifier isn’t shared and ads aren’t personalized with it. You can change this any time in your iPhone’s Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Remove Ads. The Remove Ads purchase turns off the ads between levels. Reward videos stay available, but they only play when you choose to watch one.
Purchases
Purchases are made through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells the game which item was bought. We never see your card, billing address or Apple ID. See Apple’s Privacy Policy for how Apple handles payment information.
What we don’t do
The game has no analytics of its own and no servers of ours that it talks to. We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t collect any beyond what’s described here.
This website
This website uses no cookies and no analytics. It’s hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, to run the site and protect it from abuse.
Emailing us
If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you, and delete it when it’s no longer needed for that.
Children
Gatekeep isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, or to object to how it’s used. Because the game keeps your data only on your iPhone, deleting the game removes it. For information Google holds about ads, use My Ad Center or contact Google. For anything else, email us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
